The forest left to natural evolution is home to countless trees, grasses and fungi, mammals, birds and many other organisms. Here, the life cycle of birth, growth, death and decomposition is complete and endlessly renewed.

Woods of this kind are fascinating and precious. Here, in the upper Onsernone Valley, there is one that is well worth visiting and experiencing in situ. Since 2002, it has been part of the Onsernone forest reserve, thanks to an agreement between the municipality and the canton.

In Comologno you can visit a small exhibition on this protected forest or, better still, visit it in person and spend enchanting hours or days in unspoilt nature.
